BOM DIA LISBOA!

Visting Lisbon from the Algarve could not be easier.   Train tickets are available online at CP and 3 hours later...you are in Portugal's hilly, historic, coastal capital.  For a European city, accommodation for Lisbon is great value for money.  We booked an apartment right in the heart of Bairro Alto, which was perfect for a short city break.

Down past Elevador da Bica, past Pink Street and along to the iconic square of Praça do Comércio, we caught the tram to Belém. A "must-do" when visiting, the tram is relaxing, offers great views and saves your legs!  Belém tower (Torre de Belém) a UNESCO World Heritage Site was somewhere I particularly wanted to visit, as I didn't get chance on my last trip.   Recommended by my friends, you have to visit Pastéis de Belém!!  Founded in 1837, they bake the traditional pastel de nata from a secret recipe.   I can tell you...they are amazing!!   Hot, with cinnamon, they taste like no other pastel de nata!!

Check out my next post... day 2 in Lisboa.

A day in paradise...

The Ria Formosa islands trip - another ticked off my bucket list!  Hop aboard a luxury catamaran from Cais Portas do Mar in old town Faro.  Cruise out through the lagoon, where you can spot the local wildlife.  Visit the 4 different islands of Armona, Culatra, Farol and Deserta.

Clear waters, secluded beaches and fish around your feet, it felt like the caribbean islands.  Tickets can be purchased here at Viator.

I want to visit again!

La ville de l'amour...

One of my favourite cities to explore.... romantic, magical and the perfect Christmas getaway!

Wrapped up in my fur coat, and with a few cafe stops the many arrondissements of the city were explored.  As true tourists we visited Paris's main attractions, watched a Paris Saint Germain football match at the Parc des Princes stadium and ate too many pain au chocolats!  But my favourite has to be the beautiful French gothic architecture, particularly at the Notre Dame.

The last 2 days of the trip were even more special... Disneyland!   A world totally transformed into Christmas...  the parade, fireworks, Mickey's Magical Christmas Lights, boutique shops and the characters costumes.

Lisbon Life...

One city I have always wanted to visit, and I already want to go back!  Trams, hilly, cobbled streets, old pastel-coloured buildings.  A beautiful Portuguese city in 30'c temperatures in October, I spent 3 days exploring.

Easy to travel around either on the metro, by tram or by foot, there were so many places of interest.  Praça do Comércio, Rossio Square, Lisbon Zoo, Lisbon Oceanarium, Elevador da Glória were just some of my favourite attractions.

Staying in the heart of the Lisbon, Bairro Alto Suites was perfect for our stay.  A recently renovated XV century building, with patisserie's nearby and within walking distance to everything.

Just do not forget to buy a pastel de nata!!

NoSoloÁgua Club

Cocktails, palm trees, Djs and pool beds....welcome to NoSoloÁgua Club in Praia de Rocha marina!

With a friend visiting from England for a week I managed to take a couple of days of work to enjoy and pretend I was on holiday too!  A few friends had recommended this beach club to us, and it definitely made for a great afternoon.

Situated right on the Praia de Rocha marina, there was a fun but relaxed vibe.  Ideal to spend the day around the pool and have some lunch in their restaurant.  Otherwise turn up later for there sunset parties!

Definitely worth a visit!
